CRB checks provide important protection for people who use social care services. You are required by law to get checks from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) if you are:
- applying for registration
- the ‘responsible individual’
- a member of staff working in a social care service we regulate and inspect
When providers or managers are applying to the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) for a disclosure application form it is important they give the correct registered body name and number:
Social care
For providers or managers registering in respect of social care services the name and number of the registered body is:

Healthcare
For providers or managers applying to register in respect of healthcare services the name and number of the registered body are:
- CQC (Healthcare) - number 21181200008
